Parliamentary Secretary Andrew Saxton Thanks Volunteers in North Vancouver

NORTH VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - Sept. 23, 2011) - On behalf of the Honourable Steven Blaney, Minister of Veterans Affairs, Andrew Saxton, Parliamentary Secretary to the President of the Treasury Board and for Western Economic Diversification and Member of Parliament for North Vancouver, today attended a ceremony in North Vancouver to thank volunteers for their work on the Remembrance Day Educational Program and the Remembrance Day Ceremony.

"Veterans, who have already given so much for their country, continue to give of themselves year after year to keep the torch of remembrance alive," said Minister Blaney. "Our Government is proud to recognize the exemplary individuals who generously volunteer their time to the cause of remembering those who served our country."

Each year, from November 5 to 11, Canadians join together to celebrate Veterans' Week. During this week, hundreds of commemorative ceremonies and events will take place across the country to recognize the achievements of our Veterans and honour those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

"I want to thank all of the volunteers who work diligently each year to organize the Remembrance Day Educational Program in North Vancouver," said Mr. Saxton. "This initiative ensures that our youth never forget the sacrifices of Canadian service men and women."
