Parliamentary Secretary Randy Kamp Presents a 2011 Small Craft Harbours Prix d'Excellence to Steveston Harbor General Manager Bob Baziuk

STEVESTON, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - Feb. 22, 2012) - Mr. Randy Kamp, Parliamentary Secretary to the Honourable Keith Ashfield, Minister of Fisheries and Oceans, on behalf of the Minister, today presented Mr. Bob Baziuk with a 2011 Small Craft Harbours Prix d'Excellence. Mr Baziuk accepted his award at a ceremony at Steveston Harbour in Richmond, British Columbia.

"On behalf of the Government of Canada, I am pleased to recognize Mr. Bob Baziuk for his significant contribution to Steveston Harbour and the local community," said Mr. Kamp. "Mr. Baziuk is an excellent example of the passion and work ethic that our harbour authority partners demonstrate every day, in fishing communities across the country."

Mr. Baziuk received this national award under the category of "Individual Commitment", which recognizes his extraordinary dedication to the ongoing success of both Steveston Harbour and the Small Craft Harbours Program. Mr. Baziuk has over 20 years experience at Steveston Harbour, the largest small craft harbour in Canada, and is currently its General Manager. In addition to the leadership role Mr. Baziuk plays at Steveston Harbour, he is also very dedicated to his community. Through his involvement in local charities and fundraisers, he has helped the Steveston Harbour Authority make a difference in the local community. Mr. Baziuk has also been very active for a number of years in furthering the goals of the Harbour Authority Program by his involvement with the Harbour Authority Association of British Columbia and with the Small Craft Harbours regional and national Harbour Authority Advisory Committees.

The Prix d'Excellence is awarded annually to celebrate the exemplary contributions made by harbour authorities to small craft harbours across Canada. The award recognizes teams and individuals who have made significant contributions to their harbours and their communities.
