Partners Airspan Networks and Stutler Technologies Announce Early Success in New WiMAX Band

Customers in 12 States Now Using Airspan WiMAX Solution in New US 3.65 GHz Band

BOCA RATON, FL--(Marketwire - May 7, 2008) - Airspan Networks Inc. (NASDAQ: AIRN), a leading worldwide provider of WiMAX-based broadband wireless access networks, and Stutler Technologies, one of the nation's largest system integrators for wireless carriers, today highlighted successes in the recently allocated 3.65 GHz band in the United States. This band has been made available to supplement national licensed bands like 2.5 GHz.

J.J. Stutler, President and CEO of Stutler Technologies, stated, "We've been partnered with Airspan for years now, leading the industry in sales of 700 MHz broadband wireless equipment, for example. For 3.65 GHz, regulatory limitations on transmit power restrict solutions that are not sophisticated. Airspan has always led the industry in technology for WiMAX, providing significantly better performance by adding some key differentiating technologies. For other bands, these technologies provide important improvements. For 3.65 GHz, they are practically mandatory for successful deployments. Our customers are seeing that, and we're pleased to be able to provide them with something a little different than the rest of the pack."

Declan Byrne, Airspan's Chief Marketing Officer, agrees. "Stutler is one of the most experienced integrators out there. Furthermore, they've been helping mid western America connect over wireless infrastructure for years using our 700 MHz products and have a top notch reputation."

"Airspan's MicroMAX and mobile HiperMAX Base Stations provide the right mix of performance and economics for the dozens of independent telcos and Wireless ISPs leveraging this new frequency band. The fact that the technology is also the basis of the architecture being developed with Fujitsu for Japan's national mobile rollout is an added plus for operators making purchase decisions."

"On the user device side, Airspan has started delivering the quad band USB dongle supporting mobile WiMAX. We believe that our multi-band MiMAX USB will be an attractive roaming solution for these many independent telco customers and for the larger spectrum holders planning national WiMAX networks -- with one unique device that plugs into a laptop, WiMAX customers from all the different operators can roam nationwide across 2.3 GHz, 2.5 GHz, 3.65 GHz and 5.8 GHz networks," continued Byrne. "This device has generated additional interest from dozens of operators around the world deploying mobile WiMAX. International roaming is also possible with MiMAX. It is another example of Airspan's leadership in WiMAX technology."

With WiMAX equipment available for purchase since FCC certification earlier this year, Stutler and Airspan have since added carriers in Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Kansas, New Mexico, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas, and Wisconsin.

Mike Perkins, CEO of Firenet1, a wireless ISP near Memphis, Tennessee and one of a number of carriers taking advantage of this new band with the Airspan solution, stated, "The 3.65 GHz band is a great compromise, it's basically free, but registration limits interference. We chose Airspan's equipment because it finesses maximum range and capacity out of the band, and we chose Stutler because they're very good at what they do. Our customers are extremely satisfied with the service we're offering today."
