Party Safe This Halloween; Arrange for a Sober Ride Home

OAKVILLE, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - Oct. 31, 2014) - Going out for some Halloween partying without planning a sober ride home can lead to frightful decisions and haunting outcomes. MADD Canada and its sponsor Allstate Insurance Company of Canada are asking people to leave the car keys at home if they are going to be drinking at Halloween festivities this weekend.

"Every day, people are killed and injured in impaired driving crashes that are entirely preventable," said MADD Canada National President Angeliki Souranis. "This Halloween, whether you travelling to or from a party, or if you're out on the roads Friday night when all the kids are out trick-or-treating, please don't drive if you have been drinking."

MADD Canada and Allstate Canada are asking Canadians to reduce the risk of impaired driving this weekend:

  • Don't drive impaired, or accept a ride with an impaired driver.
  • Do plan ahead for a sober ride home. Take public transit, call a cab, or arrange for a designated driver.
  • Call 911 if you see a driver you suspect is impaired.

"Let's treat ourselves to safer roads this Halloween," said John O'Donnell, President and Chief Executive Officer of Allstate Insurance Company of Canada. "If you're going to be drinking, leave the driving to someone sober. Impaired driving is never worth the risk to your safety or the safety of others."

Whether you need a safe ride home from a party or bar, or you're hosting a party and need to arrange transportation for your guests, MADD Canada sponsor #TAXI offers a fast and easy option. Dial #TAXI (# 8-2-9-4) on any cell phone to connect to the first available taxi company or your taxi company of choice. For more information, visit http://www.poundtaxi.com/.
