Party With INFORUM at The Red Devil Lounge to Kick Off National Volunteer Week

SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwire - Apr 10, 2012) - April 15-21 is National Volunteer Week, so come stir up those feel-good giving back vibes at a get-together hosted by INFORUM on Saturday, April 14th at The Red Devil Lounge in San Francisco.

Established in 1974, National Volunteer Week is about inspiring, recognizing and encouraging people to seek out imaginative ways to engage in their communities. The Bay Area, widely regarded as a hotspot for social change and positive transformation, is far from experiencing a drought in altruism. Rather, the roadblock in making the notion of 21st century citizenship the best it can be, is closing the gap between exciting volunteer opportunities and eager volunteers. INFORUM and Hands on Bay Area are making moves to better match organizations in need with willing Bay Area Samaritans. Join us at The Red Devil Lounge, where party-goers will have the opportunity to sign up on-site to for a chance to participate in National Volunteer Week.

Hands on Bay Area (HOBA) is an affiliate of HandsOn Network, an innovative volunteer network reaching across the country and around the world that creates opportunities for people to volunteer, learn, and lead in their communities. Their projects provide more than 65,000 hours of service to more than 200 non-profits across The Bay Area. They accommodate groups, busy individuals, corporate clients -- and provide them with a high-quality experience to turn even first-time volunteers into active community leaders.

In addition to the feel-good vibes of charity, groove to the tunes of Tyler Matthew Smith and Soul/Funk DJ Tom Thump and lululux, indulge in some tasty cocktails and Party for a Cause with the Bay area's finest non-profits and fun-loving philanthropists.

"We're so thrilled to be a part of this exciting kick-off event for National Volunteer Week," said Tessa Hedstrom, program director for HOBA. "It will provide an easy way for people to make connections and get involved in their community, while enjoying fun music and good company. A great party -- Bay area style!"

So whether you're an expert youth tutor, green-thumb extraordinaire for park beautification, seasoned pro at assembling HIV kits or a novice to volunteering with a big heart, come celebrate with INFORUM -- it's sure to be a good time for a good cause.
