Pat Eklund Elected Chairperson of CCS Partnership Board of Directors

SACRAMENTO, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- September 2, 2005 -- The Cities, Counties and Schools Partnership (CCS Partnership) has announced the unanimous election of Pat Eklund as chairperson of the CCS Partnership board of directors.

Eklund, a current council member and former mayor of Novato, has served on the CCS Partnership board for the past three years. She is also the current president of the League of California Cities board of directors.

"Pat Eklund has been an outstanding leader for the League of California Cities during this past year," said Chris McKenzie, executive director, League of California Cities. "Her leadership and drive has been a staple of the League's success this year, and she'll do a wonderful job on the CCS Partnership board of directors."

Connie Busse, executive director of the CCS Partnership was equally pleased with the election.

"In her time on the board of directors, Pat has been exemplary," Busse said. "She believes strongly in the goals and purpose of the CCS Partnership and has taken every opportunity to promote the organization. I know that she will be a great chairperson and the organization will prosper under her leadership."

The Cities, Counties and Schools Partnership, is unique in the nation. Incorporated in 1997, it is a nonprofit, nonpartisan collaboration of associations of local elected officials. The partners that constitute this unusual organization are the League of California Cities, the California School Boards Association and the California State Association of Counties.

The board of directors of the CCS Partnership is comprised of the officers of the three associations that together represent the majority of local elected officials in the state. The goal of the partnership is to create a culture of collaboration among local elected officials in California's 478 cities, 58 counties, and more than 1000 school districts. The purpose of this collaboration is to improve the conditions for California's children, families and communities.
