Pathway Communications Launches SecureNet Service

Service provides higher security for business Internet users Attention: Assignment Editor, Business/Financial Editor, City Editor, News Editor, Tech/Telecomm Editor TORONTO, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - April 6, 2005) - Pathway Communications (www.pathcom.com), a leading provider of integrated Internet solutions to business and residential customers, has launched SecureNet - a new, free service designed to provide a much higher level of security for business Internet users.

"Internet security is paramount to us and critical for our customers," says Pathway President Ashok Kalle. "Our new, improved security service includes advanced antivirus, worm, spyware detection and blocking as well as real-time intrusion detection and prevention. No other Internet Services Company anywhere provides this level of protection or security for the price we charge.

"Normally, it would cost businesses thousands of dollars to implement and manage this type of security service themselves. We offer SecureNet completely free of charge to our broadband business customers as another way to differentiate ourselves from the competition."

SecureNet also includes inbound and outbound e-mail virus scanning, advanced spam control, an industry leading firewall, 24 x 7 connectivity monitoring and security assessments.

"Each month our security service stop hundreds of thousands of viruses and millions of spam e-mails from reaching our customers," adds Kalle. "It is unfortunate that virus developers are becoming more sophisticated and have begun sending worms and viruses via web and FTP sites. Hackers are also devising new methods to penetrate networks and bring down servers. Now, with SecureNet, we offer a much higher level of confidence and security to our business broadband clients without them having to worry about deployment or maintenance."

According to the Computer Security Institute, the average loss caused to North American companies by denial of service attacks in 2004 alone was estimated to be more than $96,000 per event. Companies spent on average almost $100,000 to recover from virus or work attacks according to ISCA Labs.

Pathway's new additional SecureNet service includes:

* Advanced Antivirus, Worm, Spyware Detection and Blocking
* Detects and eliminates viruses, worms and Trojans, from web traffic, POP/SMTP based e-mail, web e-mail, instant messaging and FTP.
* Stops spyware, keystroke loggers and malicious Java Applets and ActiveX scripts from entering your network via the Internet.
* Real-time Intrusion Detection and Prevention
* Provides real-time detection and prevention of over 1,300 types of network attacks and probes.
* Identifies attacks as they commence and takes immediate and automatic action to prevent them.
