PatientOrderSets.com Signs Agreement with Texas Department of Information Resources Authorizing its Order Set Solution for Use in Texas Public Hospitals

AUSTIN, TEXAS--(Marketwire - June 21, 2012) - PatientOrderSets.com is pleased to announce that it has signed a contract with the Texas Department of Information Resources (DIR), approving PatientOrderSets.com's order set solutions for use in public and DIR eligible hospitals throughout Texas. PatientOrderSets.com's solutions were selected after a rigorous selection process by the Texas DIR that ensured that PatientOrderSets.com's order sets and affiliated technologies fully supported the requirements of public and DIR hospitals.

Dr. Chris O'Connor, President and Founder of PatientOrderSets.com, said, "We are delighted to be a part of Texas's commitment to improving patient safety. PatientOrderSets.com is very pleased to have met the requirements set by the Texas Department of Information Resources and the opportunity to have Texas hospitals join our network is exciting."

PatientOrderSets.com is a transformative health care solution that provides comprehensive libraries of order sets, advanced order set completion and management software, and implementation tools for hospitals and health care centres.

Order sets are detailed, evidence-based medical checklists that allow doctors, nurses, pharmacists, and other clinicians throughout all parts of a health care organization to quickly and easily specify appropriate treatments for hundreds of medical conditions. By implementing order sets, hospitals improve quality of care by:

  • Increasing patient safety,
  • Saving clinicians time, and
  • Reducing health care costs.

PatientOrderSets.com is unique in that it is the only collaborative order set technology of its kind in the world. Its order set solutions are currently used by over 240 hospitals and health care organizations that customize PatientOrderSets.com's reference library of order sets to their unique needs and resources. Hospitals can view a shared library of thousands of customized order sets to learn how other hospitals deploy order sets most effectively.

PatientOrderSets.com's electronic order set completion software module, EntryPoint, gives clinicians the ability to use order sets online using desktop computers and mobile tablets such as iPad and Android devices. EntryPoint has been certified by ICSA Labs' ONC-ATCB Electronic Health Record program as meeting the standards set by the U.S Secretary of Health and Human Services for computerized physician order entry systems. Meaningful use certification affirms that EntryPoint can support health care providers in qualifying for funding under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.

Health care organizations can also deploy PatientOrderSets.com's order sets using a paper based ordering system or as part of any third-party computerized physician order entry system.

PatientOrderSets.com has a strategic alliance with Accreditation Canada International (ACI), a division of Accreditation Canada. ACI works to improve the quality and safety of healthcare worldwide by exporting Canadian best practices. They have incorporated PatientOrderSets.com's order set technologies into their solution to enable hospitals to more effectively implement and measure organizational best practices.
