TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - June 28, 2012) - PatientOrderSets.com is pleased to announce that it has won a major tender with seven hospitals in the Ontario Central East Local Health Integration Network after a competitive public tendering process. The seven hospitals are:

  • Campbellford Memorial Hospital
  • Lakeridge Health
  • Northumberland Hills Hospital
  • Peterborough Regional Health Centre
  • Ross Memorial Hospital
  • Rouge Valley Health System
  • The Scarborough Hospital

These hospitals will participate in PatientOrderSets.com's unique collaborative order set network that is the only one of its kind in the world. Currently, over 240 hospitals and health care organizations, including over 23% of hospitals in Canada and over 60% of hospitals in Ontario, use PatientOrderSets.com's network to store, access, and compare customized order sets that are used throughout all types of health care.

Order sets are detailed, evidence-based medical checklists that clinicians use to quickly and easily specify appropriate treatments for hundreds of medical conditions. By implementing order sets, hospitals improve quality of care by:
Increasing patient safety,
Saving clinicians time, and
Reducing health care costs.

All seven hospitals will be using PatientOrderSets.com's EntryPoint software module: an innovative software solution clinicians use to complete order sets using desktop computers and mobile tablets such as iPad and Android devices.

Dr. Chris O'Connor, President and Founder of PatientOrderSets.com, said, "We are very impressed by the Central East LHIN's leadership and strong commitment to ensuring patient safety and reducing health care costs. We are proud that our solutions are a part of their plan for meeting these vital goals."

PatientOrderSets.com is endorsed by the Ontario Hospital Association and has a strategic alliance with Accreditation Canada International (ACI) that brings PatientOrderSets.com's order set technologies to ACI's worldwide network of hospitals.

EntryPoint has been certified by ICSA Labs' ONC-ATCB Electronic Health Record program as meeting Meaningful Use standards set by the U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services for computerized physician order entry systems.
