Patrick D. Quirk Appointed to Sourcing Interests Group (SIG) Advisory Board

CEO of Emptoris to Help SIG Set the Agenda for Industry Education and Training

AMELIA ISLAND, FL--(Marketwire - March 16, 2011) - The Sourcing Interests Group (SIG),, one of the premier membership organizations for sourcing and outsourcing executives from Global 1000 companies, announced today that Patrick D. Quirk, the president and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Emptoris, Inc., has been appointed to the organization's Advisory Board.

"We're delighted to have Patrick Quirk join the SIG Advisory Board. His deep experience and insight into the challenges and opportunities global companies face will be a valuable asset to our organization and our membership," said Dawn Tiura Evans, president and Chief Executive Officer of SIG. "He undoubtedly shares our focus and commitment to improving bottom-line performance through high-impact strategic sourcing initiatives."

As a member of the SIG Advisory Board, Quirk will advise the organization in the development of its member services and educational and networking events, which are designed to help sourcing and outsourcing professionals implement best practices and build impactful sourcing programs. Quirk's appointment was announced at the SIG Global Sourcing Summit, which is being held in Amelia Island, Florida, March 15-17, 2011.

"I spend a good deal of my schedule out talking to our customers and prospects. This gives me perspective into what's on the Chief Procurement Officer's mind; issues like alignment with the CEO's agenda, managing the complexities of global growth, and addressing high-value, hard to manage spend categories. SIG's conferences are superb at providing practical and timely education to address these issues so I am honored to join the SIG Advisory Board and look forward to contributing to their agenda in the future," said Quirk

Quirk brings more than 25 years of experience in ERP and supply chain technology and business practices to the SIG Advisory Board. As CEO of Emptoris, Inc., Quirk sets the vision and strategy for the development of Emptoris' highly-rated strategic supply management and enterprise contract management solutions, which are used by more than 300 Global 1000 companies.

Quirk previously served as General Manager and Group Vice President of Supply Chain Management (SCM) Products and Technology at PeopleSoft, Inc., where he oversaw the acquisition of JD Edwards by PeopleSoft for $1.7 billion, one of the largest software acquisitions in ERP and PeopleSoft history. At PeopleSoft, Quirk was responsible for an organization of 500+ professionals globally and oversaw all aspects of the SCM business including product strategy, product development, marketing and global support. Prior to PeopleSoft, Quirk served as Vice President of the Americas for Aspect Development, which was acquired by i2 Technologies for $9.4 billion in one of the largest software acquisitions in history. At Aspect, Quirk helped create the SRM marketplace and tripled revenues over three years, selling primarily to Fortune 500 companies. Post-acquisition, Quirk served as Vice President of Marketplaces for i2 Technologies, the publicly traded supply chain management software and services company.

Quirk will also be addressing the SIG Summit in a presentation titled, "How Intelligent Information and Best-in-Class Processes Lead to Optimal Decision Making."
