HALIFAX, NOVA SCOTIA--(CCNMatthews - Aug. 4, 2005) - The Atlantic Canadian firm of Patterson Palmer confirmed today that talks are underway between their Halifax office and another law firm that may result in a business combination.Peter Wright, Chair of Patterson Palmer's regional firm said, "This situation applies uniquely to our Halifax office and at the time of this release, nothing has been formally approved; however," he adds, "advanced discussions are indeed underway."Patterson Palmer, one of Atlantic Canada's strongest regional firms, will continue to build strength in all four Atlantic Provinces, with offices in eight cities including Halifax. "Assuming this goes forward, we expect there will be changes to the composition of our Halifax presence but our over-riding focus is to protect our service commitment to existing or prospective local, regional and national clients," Wright says.Patterson Palmer was formed exactly ten years ago with the merger of Patterson Kitz in Nova Scotia, Palmer O'Connell, Leger, Roderick, Glennie in New Brunswick, Halley Hunt in Newfoundland, and Ross Hooley Douglas Murphy in Prince Edward Island. Offices are located in Halifax, St. John's, Moncton, Saint John, Fredericton, Charlottetown, Summerside, and Truro, where a major expansion is currently underway.
