PDA Partners With Bill Paulson to Launch New Publication on International Pharmaceutical Quality

BETHESDA, MD--(Marketwire - August 15, 2007) - The Parenteral Drug Association (PDA) announced today that it will collaborate with Bill Paulson, former Executive Editor of "The Gold Sheet," to launch a new publication titled International Pharmaceutical Quality (IPQ). Paulson will be Editor-in-Chief of the new periodical which will be published bi-monthly with quarterly supplements focused on specific technology areas.

International Pharmaceutical Quality and related IPQ publications will directly target the relevant issues surrounding international harmonization and help further the discussion about the regulatory approaches appropriate for advancing products and processes. Each issue will provide an in-depth analysis of a problem area or developing regulatory initiative. It will seek to improve understanding of issues and aid the development of harmonized global regulation of pharmaceutical quality and corporate quality systems.

"The goal of the publication is to delve into and advance the current dialogue between industry and regulators on creating a new paradigm for regulating drug and biotech product quality," said Paulson. "IPQ will help its readers understand the changing regulatory environment and be more actively involved in shaping the outcome."

IPQ staff will maintain editorial independence and will report on key conferences and workshops where proposals for industry and regulatory guidances and initiatives are being presented. As a key driver of the evolving regulatory model and the harmonization effort, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) will be an important component of IPQ's coverage. Also included in the new publication's purview will be international quality initiatives and harmonization efforts involving industry associations, regulatory agencies, pharmacopeias and standard-setting organizations around the globe.

"PDA is looking forward to its association with Bill Paulson and supporting his efforts to facilitate the harmonization dialogue," said Robert Myers, PDA President. "International Pharmaceutical Quality will be included as a valuable new benefit in the PDA membership package, and we hope to partner with other associations to offer this important new publication to their members as well."

International Pharmaceutical Quality will be offered to the public on a subscription basis. Limited advertising space will also be available. For information on subscription and advertising rates, contact Nahid Kiani, at kiani@pda.org or +1 (301) 656-5900 ext. 128.
