Peabody Dentist Collaborates With Local Hospital to Place Dental Implants

PEABODY, MA--(Marketwired - September 23, 2015) - Dr. John Argeros, a leading Peabody implant dentist, is teaming up with surgeons from Massachusetts General Hospital to treat patients suffering from severe jawbone loss.

Dr. Argeros, who operates Contemporary Dentistry and Implantology, is working with surgoens at the hospital to care for patients who are not candidates for traditional implants. The patients require jaw surgery to reposition their jaws before dental implants can be placed. They also require bone grafting to increase the amount of bone available for implant placement.

"With my training and years of experience, I can work with these talented surgeons to provide these patients with the latest treatment in order to restore their mouth and get them back to eating the food they love again," Dr. Argeros said.

Dr. Argeros and the hospital surgeons use computer guidance to reposition the jaw and to map out the entire dental implant procedure. Once the jaw has been moved and the grafting is completed, the jaw is held in position using special dentures created at Dr. Argeros’ Peabody dental office. Once the healing is complete, dental implants can be placed, and the patient will be able to have teeth that are fixed in place and fully functional and esthetic.

"Our practice is proud to have become a local resource for those patients who have lost so much bone in their jaws that they have been refused conventional implant treatment," Dr. Argeros said. "Although this treatment is limited to those patients with severe bone loss that cannot be treated in a conventional manner, the ability for patients to have access to this type of treatment is wonderful."

Dr. Argeros, who is a graduate of Tufts University School of Dental Medicine, has served the Peabody community for more than 35 years. Contemporary Dentistry and Implantology offers All-on-4 dental implants, implants for dentures, crowns, bridges, veneers, teeth whitening, sedation dentistry and most recently, endodontics.

Dr. Argeros began incorporating dental implantology into his practice in the 1980s. His experienced and well-trained staff uses the latest technology to serve patients through paperless dental management software, CT scans, digital radiology, intraoral cameras and CAD/CAM restorations. Contemporary Dentistry and Implantology uses the i-CAT, a cone beam computerized tomography scanning system that shows a complete scan in just nine seconds.

Dr. Argeros is one of a few hundred dentists in the world who holds a certification in dental implants from the American Board of Oral Implantology/Implant Dentistry. He also is the former president of the Massachusetts Dental Society of Anesthesiology. In 2009, Dr. Argeros earned the prestigious Fellowship in the American Academy of Implant Dentistry and was also appointed to the review board for the academy’s publication, The Journal of Oral Implantology. He is a member of the Massachusetts Dental Society, North Shore District Dental Society, Academy of Osseointegration, American Dental Society of Anesthesiology and American Dental Association and holds a Mastership in the International Congress of Oral Implantology. Dr. Argeros also has provided restorative dental treatment at the North Shore Medical Center at Union Hospital since 1979.
