Peak of the Market-CEO Challenges All Manitoba Businesses

Larry McIntosh wants to see the province's business community step up to the plate for cyclone victims!

WINNIPEG, MANITOBA--(Marketwire - May 12, 2008) - Following a fundraising drive amongst his co-workers, Peak of the Market's President & CEO is using Manitoba's Birthday to challenge and invite all Manitoba businesses to help out with aid to the cyclone-ravished people of Myanmar.

"Many of the victims of this natural disaster were totally unaware of what was coming when this storm hit the delta region of Myanmar over a week ago," McIntosh said. "Imagine having your home, family, friends, livelihood and everything you treasure being taken away so suddenly."

The challenge Larry McIntosh is making to Manitoba's businesses is to start their own campaigns to raise money for the Canadian Red Cross. The Red Cross has been in the country prior to this disastrous event and are in the most effected areas of Myanmar helping with the distribution of emergency shelter kits, water, mosquito nets and many other items. Their challenge is purchasing these items to distribute to those who need it so desperately.

"As Manitobans, we know what flooding is all about." "We need to come together and help others in their time of need," McIntosh said. "For every dollar donated by a staff member, Peak of the Market will donate two dollars to the Canadian Red Cross. We want to challenge other companies to match that within their organizations," said Mr. McIntosh.

Peak of the Market's President & CEO has issued this appeal to all Manitobans as we celebrate Manitoba Day. "Manitobans are well known for our generous nature. We need to show the people of Myanmar that we care and every donation counts," McIntosh said.

Nargis, the world's deadliest cyclone since 1991, made landfall on the coast of Myanmar on Friday, May 2nd. As the death toll rises and contaminated water creates more problems, the survivors of this disaster need assistance from the international community to rebuild their lives and recover from their great loss.
