Pedestrian Safety Featured in TIFF 2011

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Sept. 6, 2011) - What follows is the press release for the short film "The Pedestrian Jar", produced by Echo Pictures Pictures and directed by Evan Morgan. It will be premiering at TIFF on September 11th and 12th.

Synopsis: The Pedestrian Jar

A short mock-doc about an office of co-workers who come up with their own solution to pedestrian-related driving accidents in the city: 'Any time you hit a pedestrian on the way to work, you have to put a quarter in the jar.'

Director's Statement:

Two winters ago a bizarre trend of pedestrian fatalities raised an important social issue for the city of Toronto: What can be done to create more awareness of the relations between pedestrians and cars?

The Pedestrian Jar emerged as one response - a short film tackling this important issue with an irreverent brand of humor that would appeal to young people and, ideally, acquire a viral momentum.

It is launched as part of what's hoped will become a larger initiative with subsequent movies addressing different sides of road safety issues, such as the manner in which certain pedestrians and bikers are also contributing to the problem.
