Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation Launches 2009 Holiday Card Program

Proceeds From Holiday Card Sales Directly Benefit Pediatric Cancer Research

IRVINE, CA--(Marketwire - October 19, 2009) - The Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation (PCRF) today announced the launch of its 2009 holiday card program featuring nearly 60 unique card designs created by young oncology patients. The colorful holiday cards, which directly benefit pediatric cancer research, are now available for purchase on the PCRF website (www.pcrf-kids.org) (click on "2009 Holiday Cards") and will be available in many major supermarkets in Southern California on Nov 1.

Individuals who wish to support this program, now in its 22nd year, may purchase the PCRF holiday cards at select Southern California Ralphs, Vons and Pavilions, Gelson's markets, Pacific Ranch Market in Orange, Marbella Market in San Juan Capistrano, and Promelis Market in Newport Beach. Select stores in Orange, Los Angeles, San Diego, San Bernardino and Riverside Counties are participating. Those who live outside Southern California who would like to purchase cards may do so by phoning the PCRF office at (800) 354-7273, or ordering through the online store at www.pcrf-kids.org (click on "2009 Holiday Cards"). PCRF ships worldwide.

"Purchasing holiday cards designed by these budding artists is a perfect way to support young cancer patients and let your friends and family know of your support. Each artist's photo and story is told on the back of the card," said PCRF Executive Director Nancy Franks. "The simple act of purchasing these beautiful cards can help improve the survival rate of children with malignant diseases."

Last year, the organization sold approximately 350,000 cards. This year, the goal is 500,000. Eighty percent of every dollar goes directly to research that leads to medically sound treatment protocols for childhood cancers. Since PCRF's inception in 1982, the organization has raised over $22 million in funding for research.

"The beautiful designs on these cards are a reminder of the courage and optimism these children maintain while fighting life-threatening illness. We are proud to play a part in the battle against pediatric cancer, but there is still so much that needs to be done," said Franks.

To purchase PCRF holiday cards online, visit www.pcrf-kids.org and click on the link for "2009 Holiday Cards." The cards will be available for purchase beginning Nov. 1 at the Southern California retail locations.
