CAMBRIDGE, MA--(Marketwired - Nov 13, 2014) - Pegasystems Inc. The Academy of Distinguished Entrepreneurs, established in 1978, is the world's first entrepreneurship hall of fame. It includes 98 notable business figures such as Ray A. Kroc, former CEO of McDonald's, Richard Branson, Chairman of the Virgin Group, and Kay Koplovitz, founder of USA Networks and CEO, Working Woman Network, Inc. The Academy recognizes and honors entrepreneurs who have contributed significantly to the development of global free enterprise. Collectively, the 98 members of the Academy have created millions of jobs and improved societies around the world. The November 13 ceremony kicks off Babson College's celebration of Global Entrepreneurship Week 2014, a week of events honoring innovation, entrepreneurship and creativity.

"We are privileged to recognize Alan with this honor and add him to a remarkable list of inductees," said Janet Strimaitis, Executive Director of the Arthur M. Blank Center for Entrepreneurship. "The extraordinary accomplishments of our newest inductees illustrate what we believe here at Babson: there are many pathways to entrepreneurship."

"It's an honor to join such an impressive group of business leaders," said Mr. Trefler, "each of whom has made a unique and significant impact on their industry and community. I applaud the Academy for its work to both encourage and recognize entrepreneurship and congratulate my fellow inductees, Diane Hessan and Graham Weston."

Since founding Pegasystems in 1983, Mr. Trefler has built a team that has created a global business with more than 3,000 staff, 30 offices worldwide and more than half a billion dollars in annual revenue. His vision is helping transform some of the world's largest global enterprises to better serve customers, streamline business operations and adapt to constant change. Mr. Trefler has been named Public Company CEO of the Year by the Massachusetts Technology Leadership Council and has received the American Business Award's Software CEO of the Year.
