Pelangio Starts Drilling at Obuasi Property in Ghana

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - July 9, 2007) - Pelangio Mines Inc. (TSX:PLG) ("Pelangio" or the "Company") announces today the start of its first drilling program at its Obuasi project in Ghana. Pelangio has an option to earn a 100% interest in four prospecting licenses covering approximately 411 square kilometres, immediately northeast and east of AngloGold Ashanti's Obuasi gold mine.

The program will entail an initial 2,000 metres of diamond drilling targeting three areas of surface gold showings:

(1) Abomposo Trench 15 area: Pelangio obtained its best trenching results at Trench 15 with 1.93 g/t gold over 17 metres. The gold mineralized zone has been defined by trenching over a distance of 450 metres along an east-southeast trend (110 degrees azimuth) plunging 10 degrees to 20 degrees to the west.

(2) Kusa Centracor area: The target area is located approximately eight kilometres east of Abomposo Trench 15 area where a total of 11 trenches have been excavated by Pelangio. The anomalous gold zone, trending east-southeast (110 degrees azimuth), has been defined over strike length of 250 meters. The proposed drilling will focus west of the seven holes drilled by Centracor Mining Ltd. in 1993. The best drill results were 1.7 g/t gold over 7 metres and 1.5 g/t gold over 4 metres.

(3) Gyabunsu Mampamhwe South area: The target area is located on the interpreted extension of the Obuasi mine Gyabunsu trend. The proposed drilling will be testing an antiform structure in the Tarkwaian rock units adjacent to a thrust faulted contact with Birimian rocks.

In addition to the drilling, Pelangio is continuing with its trenching, soil sampling and prospecting program on several other target areas. An airborne survey program covering the extension of the Obuasi mine Main Mine Trend is scheduled to start in the next few months.

Pelangio's exploration program in Ghana is being managed and supervised by Chris Pegg, P. Geo, consultant for the Company, Qualified Person within the meaning of National Instrument 43-101.
