On Friday, April 10, more than 350 Chester Community Charter School (CCCS) students in grades K-8 will attend a "Rock the PSSAs" pep rally at the school's West Campus, in Chester, to build excitement and enthusiasm for upcoming Pennsylvania System of School Assessment tests (PSSA), scheduled to begin Monday, April 13.

Sterlen Barr, CEO, Rapping About Prevention, Inc., educator and motivational rap artist, will facilitate the rally, and his talent group will use music, hip-hop, break dancing and engaging activities to encourage and motivate students for the PSSA. For more than 20 years, Barr has used the power of music to inspire success in the classroom, to educate students about physical and sexual health, and to deter students from detrimental habits, such as drug use and crime.

Rallies will also be held at CCCS's East and Upland campuses to raise students' spirits for the test. In the past, the school hosted the rally with former Philadelphia Eagles' running back LeSean McCoy and singer/songwriter BriaMarie.

About Chester Community Charter School

Chester Community Charter School opened its doors on September 9, 1998, serving 97 students from its modest, four, meeting rooms, in the lobby of the Howard Johnson Hotel, in Chester, PA. Since that time, the school has steadily grown to include more than 3,000 students in 11 state-of-the-art-buildings, spanning three campuses. Through collaboration with the Gureghian Charitable Foundation, and CCCS' High School Search and Selection Program, more than $9.5 million in scholarships and financial assistance to prestigious private secondary schools has been awarded to 225 of the school's graduates, since 2009.
