Pentaho Enhances Enterprise Security for Open Source Business Intelligence

New Capabilities Streamline Security Integration for Enterprise Customers

ORLANDO, FL--(Marketwire - June 12, 2007) - Pentaho Corp., creator of the world's most popular open source business intelligence (BI) suite, today announced that Pentaho has added single sign-on support to simplify integration and reduce maintenance in larger-scale deployments. Demonstrating the growth of large-scale open source BI deployments, a 2006 research survey by Ventana Research found that nearly 1 in 5 companies using or considering open source BI planned to support more than 5,000 users at full deployment, clearly showing the market need for easy-to-manage, scalable open source BI solutions.

Single sign-on capabilities provide benefits to administrators and end-users alike. From an end-user perspective, single sign-on allows users to avoid multiple, redundant login steps or maintenance of different passwords as users interact with different applications. Administrators benefit from streamlined maintenance and increased security, by centralizing user authentication into a master directory that typically defines users as well as their security roles and access profiles. As employees join or leave the organization, or new applications are deployed, administrators no longer have to maintain and update security information for every user and every application.

The Pentaho Open BI Suite continues to grow in popularity with small organizations as well as large enterprises. Generally, the larger a given BI deployment is, the more significant the TCO advantages of open source BI become apparent, and the greater the requirement to integrate with more internal systems, especially directories and security systems.

These new capabilities, delivered as part of a Pentaho Subscription, make it easy for customers to integrate with popular directories authentication interfaces including LDAP, Microsoft Active Directory, portal-level security and more. The Pentaho Subscription also provides professional technical support, IP indemnification, and certified versions of Pentaho for maximum reliability and supportability.

Single sign-on integration capabilities with production technical support and Intellectual property indemnification are available immediately from Pentaho as part of a Pentaho Subscription. A video interview with Pentaho's Chief Engineer, Marc Batchelor, describing these new capabilities is available at The Ventana Research study cited above is also available at
