People Together Foundation: Media Advisory/The Honourable Iona Campagnolo, Lieutenant Governor of British Columbia, to Address Partners in Reconciliation Breakfast

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(CCNMatthews - Nov. 28, 2006) - The Honourable Iona Campagnolo, Lieutenant Governor of British Columbian, Chief Leonard George, Tsleil-Waututh Nation, President, Chief Dan George Centre for Advanced Education, and the Honourable Stan Hagen, Minister of Tourism, Sport and Arts will address the inaugural Partners in Reconciliation breakfast at the Terminal City Club at 7:15 a.m. on Thursday, November 30, 2006.

Partners of Reconciliation is an initiative of the People Together Foundation to enlist partners from every aspect of Canadian society to promote and build reconciliation between Aboriginal peoples and the wider Canadian community. The People Together Foundation's mandate is to establish a nationwide network of individuals, governments, businesses, associations, non-government and community organizations who accept their individual and collective responsibilities for reconciliation - and take action to address this issue of vital importance to Canada's social, economic and political well-being and advancement.

People Together Foundation's work will lead to the 2008 Walk for Reconciliation in Vancouver, coinciding with the 150th anniversary of British Columbia. This event is expected to attract thousands of Canadians to celebrate the cultures, achievements and unique position of Aboriginal peoples in Canada. The Assembly of First Nations gave its support in principle to Canada's Walk for Reconciliation in 2004.
