PLEASANTON, CA--(Marketwire - Mar 6, 2012) - Percona, Inc., the company that makes MySQL faster and more reliable, has announced that March 12, 2012 is the deadline for Birds of a Feather and Lightning Talk submissions for the Percona Live MySQL Conference and Expo taking place at the Hyatt Regency Santa Clara and Santa Clara Convention Center in Santa Clara, Calif., April 10-12, 2012. March 12 also marks the last day attendees can benefit from early bird registration pricing and take advantage of the hotel group rate.
Formerly the MySQL Conference & Expo hosted by O'Reilly and Associates, this "must attend" three-day event provides a great opportunity for MySQL users, developers and vendors to exchange knowledge and information about MySQL and attend breakout sessions, keynotes, and tutorials presented by some of the most respected MySQL practitioners in the industry.
Birds of a Feather
Birds of a Feather (BOF) sessions enable attendees with the same project or topic interests to enjoy some quality face time. BOFs can be organized for individual projects or broader topics (e.g., best practices, open data, standards). Any attendee or conference speaker can propose and moderate an engaging BOF. Percona will post the selected topics and moderators online and provide a meeting space and time. The deadline for submitting a BOF is March 12.
Lightning Talk
Lightning Talks provide an opportunity for attendees to propose, explain, exhort, or rant on any MySQL-related topic for five minutes. All submissions will be reviewed, and the top 10 will be selected to present during the one-hour Lightning Talks session during the Wednesday night Community Networking Reception. The deadline for submitting a Lightning Talk topic is March 12.
Post-Conference Events - Sphinx Search Day
In addition to the previously announced post-conference events for Drizzle Day and The SkySQL & MariaDB Solutions Day, a third post-conference event is now available on April 13: Sphinx Search Day. This is the first U.S. opportunity for the Sphinx user community to showcase the performance, scalability, and flexibility that has "wow'd" users like Boardreader, Craigslist, Dailymotion, Hubpages and Scribd. Sphinx Search Day will provide a technical forum to educate those who are new to Sphinx and to drive innovation for long-time users.
