Perforce Integrates Commons(TM) With Dropbox for Best-in-Class Document Collaboration

Perforce Software Extends Its Powerful Document Versioning Solution to Leverage Dropbox's Industry-Leading File-Sharing Capabilities

ALAMEDA, CA--(Marketwired - Jan 14, 2014) - Perforce Software today announced the integration of its document collaboration platform, Perforce Commons™, with Dropbox, the industry's leading file-sharing tool. Perforce customers using Commons to store and manage the versions of their documents can now upload files directly into Dropbox, which syncs content across all the devices associated with a customer account. Combining the two technologies allows users to share files via Dropbox while utilizing Commons' robust collaboration and version control capabilities.

Built on the versioning engine used by the world's most innovative companies, Commons extends Perforce enterprise version management to less technical staff, who can now manage their documents and other files in the same shared repository that the developers use for code and artists use for graphics. Commons enables organizations to maintain a single source of truth for all their assets -- a fundamental requirement for the emerging software development methodology of Continuous Delivery.

"We've tried lots of document management solutions but found that they're mostly social media and communication platforms with document collaboration tacked on as an afterthought. That's not good enough for us," said Ryan Kelly, project manager at Photizo Group. "We want a collaboration platform where communication and workflow are focused on the document itself. Nothing we tried was working for us until we found Commons."

Free for 20 Users
All Perforce products are free for up to 20 users -- including access to Perforce's technical support. Perforce Commons is available as both an on-premise solution and a cloud service. It takes only minutes to set up a Commons Cloud team at commons.perforce.net. To download the on-premise edition of Commons, visit www.perforce.com

"It's becoming rare for document reviews and revisions take place exclusively at desktops connected to a server. Thanks to advanced file-sharing tools like Dropbox, users propagate their evolving documents to any number of devices and share them with their peers," said Christopher Seiwald, founder and CEO of Perforce. "That's why our integration with Dropbox is so helpful. Now our customers can easily share files across their devices while still reaping in the benefits of our enterprise version management."
