Pericom Ships 35-Millionth Signal Conditioning Product, Achieving New Signal Integrity Milestone

Innovative ReDriver(TM) Technology Is Widely Adopted and Used Across Multiple Market Segments and End Products

SAN JOSE, CA--(Marketwire - February 3, 2011) - Pericom Semiconductor Corporation (NASDAQ: PSEM), a worldwide preferred supplier of products for timing, signal conditioning and serial connectivity, today announced that it has achieved a new signal integrity milestone by shipping its 35-millionth signal conditioning IC into multiple market segments and end products over the past 5 years.

Pericom's ReDriver family employs proprietary technology to improve the signal integrity and performance of high-speed signals for products within PC, NB, server, storage, networking, embedded, and consumer market segments. This landmark is significant since it illustrates both broad technology adoption across many market segments and the high-confidence level of design engineers who use Pericom's ReDriver in a variety of applications.

"We are very proud of our signal integrity history and this shipment milestone, and continue to leverage our ReDriver technology to higher-speed protocols as they become available to our customers," said Dr. Gerry Liu, senior vice president of marketing for Pericom. "We were the first company to announce ReDriver support for the new PCI Express 3.0 speed of 8Gbps, followed by USB 3.0 and SATA 3.0 industry-first announcements, and our product roadmap includes higher speed protocols as we move forward and they become mainstream."

Major computing and server companies worldwide, including the top 5 server vendors HP, Dell, IBM, Oracle/Sun, and Fujitsu have employed Pericom's unique technology in their platforms. Networking oriented companies such as Cisco, Juniper, NEC, Toshiba, Huawei, Alcatel-Lucent and others, have also adopted the cost effective performance benefits of the ReDriver technology.

They especially benefit from the ReDriver's cost and design simplicity advantages to schedule-sensitive platforms such as cloud computing, ultra mobility, and consumer.

The ReDriver technology and products differ from more costly and traditional forms of signal conditioners such as retimers or repeaters, which require more external components, and are employed in mainly larger, less cost-sensitive niche platforms that need to support long signal channels. The ReDriver technology is adopted by larger volume applications such as server, storage, networking, and PC/NB applications with mid-size signal channels.

ReDriver product families cover all the popular high-speed protocols, such as PCI Express, USB, SATA, SAS, XAUI, SRIO, Infiniband, HDMI, Ethernet, and Display Port -- with more on the way as high speed protocols continue to evolve to faster speeds. An advantage of the technology is its ability to also offer 'protocol agnostic' capability, allowing it to support non standard data rates utilized in proprietary networking and embedded applications, such as backplane, chassis to chassis cable, and specialty test equipment.
