PeriOptimum and Sonitor Technologies Announce Strategic Partnership for Real-Time Location Technology

Companies Will Deliver Full-Service Solution at Women's Hospital

LARGO, FL--(Marketwire - February 25, 2008) - PeriOptimum, the leader in improving surgical throughput, and Sonitor Technologies, Inc., the leading developer, manufacturer and supplier of a proprietary ultrasound Indoor Positioning System (IPS) and Real-Time Location Systems (RTLS), announced a reseller agreement to deliver their combined real-time location solution to healthcare organizations. Under the agreement, Sonitor's ultrasound-based indoor positioning system (IPS) will become the real-time technology platform for providing accurate and reliable room-level location information of patients, staff and equipment to PeriOptimum's integrated automated workflow software. The Companies are in the process of installing this solution at Women's Hospital in Baton Rouge.

PeriOptimum and Sonitor Technologies will improve surgical services throughput, by accurately tracking patients' locations and status. Now that the implementation is complete, this system will be utilized in surgical services by ten operating rooms at Woman's Hospital located in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

"The reseller agreement reflects our desire to present the most reliable, real-time data platform to complement our proprietary workflow software, PathFinder. Sonitor's technology provides 100% room-level, and even bed-level accuracy," said Mark Vernallis, President and CEO of PeriOptimum. "This platform will offer a highly-valued solution to address the issues of inefficiency and automation within the healthcare environment, and particularly improve surgical services workflow."

"Sonitor's reliable Indoor Positioning system, delivering absolute location accuracy at room-level or bed-level, coupled with PeriOptimum's innovative workflow software delivers the full-service solution to healthcare organizations," said Terry Aasen, CEO of Sonitor Technologies, Inc. "Sonitor's ultrasound tracking technology is an alternative to traditional RFID WiFi tracking technologies which offers dependable location accuracy. This is particularly important when tracking patients and when recording interaction events such as patient-with-clinician, patient-with-treatment equipment, etc."

The Sonitor indoor positioning system (IPS) uses detectors and tags that are linked through the existing wired or wireless local area network (LAN) to a digital file containing all vital statistics and information about the item or person being monitored. The motion activated tag transmits a unique identification signal using ultrasound waves to special detectors that use Sonitor patented ultrasound signal Digital Signal Processing (DSP) algorithms. The detectors transmit signals via an existing LAN to a central computer that stores the information about the tag's room-location and the time of receipt of the signal. Sonitor's ultrasound technology ensures that detectors interpret tag signals without risk of interference from any environmental noise or other signals, nor interfere with sensitive instruments. The system is designed for safety and all emitted sound pressure levels are within the international regulations for the safe use of ultrasound.

PeriOptimum delivers a workflow management solution in its proprietary software package, PathFinder. It provides hospitals with a transparent view unlike big board views supplied by documentation systems where boards are updated after documentation is done, PathFinder's automated tracking solution empowers charge persons to make decisions using up to the minute information. In addition to surgical services, PathFinder can be deployed in any procedural department where patient throughput matters, such as the cardiac catheterization lab, ambulatory surgery and endoscopy centers.
