Perlite Canada inc. Announces the Election of Directors and the Approval of a Shareholders Rights Plan

MONTREAL, QUEBEC--(CCNMatthews - April 26, 2007) - Perlite Canada inc. ("Perlite Canada") (TSX VENTURE:PCI) is pleased to announce that Richard Barabe, Martin Joyal, Patrick Martel and Louis-Marie Demers have been elected as directors at the last annual and special meeting of the shareholders of Perlite Canada held in Montreal on Friday, April 20th, 2007. Richard Barabe and Martin Joyal were re-elected as directors, whereas Patrick Martel and Louis-Marie Demers were appointed for the first time. Patrick Martel is a consultant in business financing and Louis-Marie Demers is the President of Consultation T.P.F. Inc. and acts as management and operation counsel for businesses in the sawmilling and pulp and paper industry. At this shareholders meeting, the shareholders of Perlite Canada also approved a shareholders rights plan dated December 6, 2006 entered into between Perlite Canada and Computershare Investor Services Inc.
