Persistent Systems Strengthens Business Advisory Board With Two New Members

Rahul Merchant and Chris van Ingen to Advance Persistent's Innovative Approach to Product Development Partnerships

Comprised of some of the technology industry's most influential leaders, the Board provides input on business and technology requirements. Merchant and van Ingen join the inaugural board members, Kannankote "Sri" Srikanth, Vince Molinaro, and Ashok Shah.

Mr. Rahul Merchant: Proven Transformation Leader and a Senior Financial Services Executive

Currently Mr. Merchant serves as a partner at transformation focused, private equity firm, Exigen Capital in New York. Previously his roles included, Executive Vice President, CIO, and Member of the Executive Committee at Fannie Mae. In this role, he led the Technology and Operations groups. Mr. Merchant was Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer at Merrill Lynch. In this role, he managed the global technology organization helping growth of all businesses at Merrill Lynch. Mr. Merchant is known for transforming technology organizations into a business-aligned function that enables the organization to scale rapidly and increase productivity.

Mr. Merchant has also held senior leadership positions at Cooper Neff and Associates, Lehman Brothers, Sanwa Financial Products and Dresdner Bank. Mr. Merchant serves as Board of Director at Sun Microsystems and Netuitive, Inc. He also serves as the board of advisors to American India Foundation (AIF). Mr. Merchant is a frequent speaker at CIO, TiE Global, and NASSCOM.

Mr. Chris van Ingen: Accomplished Analytical and Life Sciences Instrument and Technology Executive

Throughout his 30-year tenure in the analytical and life sciences instrument industry, Mr. van Ingen has been a key player in expanding the use of analytical techniques and equipment by simplifying the overall process and bringing an application-specific focus to the instrument market. By developing "integrated workflows" -- combining microfludics, miniaturization, ease-of-use, informatics disciplines -- his team built reliable tools and processes for researchers in analytical sciences and life sciences. With this integrated approach to the market, Mr. van Ingen built a profitable and growing portfolio of products, consumables and services for Agilent Technologies' Bio-Analytical Measurement Group.

Chris van Ingen retired in October 2007 as President of the Bio-Analytical Measurement Group. From 1996 to 2001, van Ingen was Vice President Sales and Marketing of Hewlett Packard's Chemical Analysis Group and held several other senior management positions at HP's Avondale Division and Netherlands Country Operation prior to 1996.
