Pet Protect Donates GBP 10,000 to Manchester Dogs Home Following Tragic Fire

SURREY, UNITED KINGDOM--(Marketwired - Sept. 16, 2014) - Following on from the tragic fire that broke out at Manchester Dogs Home last week, Pet Protect has pledged to donate £10,000 to the charity following on from £1,000 that was donated immediately following the devastating news.

As a pet insurer many of us have dogs so it really hit home to hear of this tragic news. We are deeply saddened to hear that some of the dogs did not make it out, but send our best wishes to the surviving dogs, with the hope they find loving family homes.

Pet Protect Managing Director, Andy Roche, said "We hope the donation can help towards the rebuild of the dog's home along with the caring of the surviving dogs. No amount of money can replace what was tragically lost in the fire but we hope this donation can work towards the charity continuing to get on with their fantastic work."

Manchester Dogs Home was established in 1893 and since then have re-homed over 1 million dogs. They take in over 7,000 dogs each year many of which require emotional and physical support before they can be rehomed. The blaze claimed the lives of over 50 dogs that were being cared for at the rescue centre, with 150 dogs being safely rescued by fire-fighters and members of the public.
