PETA's New Online Thrift Store Is Open for Business in Partnership With WebThriftStore

New Partnership Will Expose Millions of New Supporters to the Charity Shopping Website

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwired - October 29, 2013) -   WebThriftStore, an online charity fundraising platform, today announced its new partnership with People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA). PETA now has its own online store where donated items (such as clothing, electronics, furniture, household items, etc.) are sold into the marketplace to benefit the nonprofit in support of its mission to protect and strengthen animal rights.

"We are extremely excited to be on the cutting edge of technology by partnering with WebThriftStore to create a new, social way for our supporters to help us, without having to donate cash," said Michelle Cehn, Community Fundraising Manager at PETA. "PETA's members and supporters are very passionate about our mission, and many will jump at the opportunity to support us by donating their excess stuff, while de-cluttering their homes at the same time."

WebThriftStore turns people's excess stuff into cash for charities, tax deductions for donors, and bargains for buyers. Any nonprofit can open a "virtual" thrift store without holding inventory, and with no financial risk. When a supporter lists a donation, it becomes available in the WebThriftStore marketplace, and its sales proceeds benefit the selected nonprofit.

"To partner with such a substantial global brand reinforces the significance of our platform as a complementary way for raising money and not having to ask supporters for more cash," said Doug Krugman, CEO of WebThriftStore. "We've created a fun and innovative way for charities and their supporters to turn excess stuff into cash. We are quickly expanding our audience and we welcome any nonprofit, large or small, to partner with us and create their own online store at"
