Pethealth Announces Partnership with H-E-B in Texas

OAKVILLE, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - Aug. 16, 2006) -

Not for dissemination in the United States of America or to United States news wire services.

Pethealth Inc. (TSX VENTURE:PTZ) ("Pethealth" or "The Company"), is pleased to announce that it has signed a three-year agreement with H-E-B, one of the largest independently owned food retailers in the United States with stores throughout Texas and Mexico, for the provision of pet health insurance and RFID technology to H-E-B's pet-owning customers in Texas.

As part of the deal, Pethealth has designed a private labelled pet insurance program for H-E-B to offer to its customers in Texas. A dedicated web site and in-store promotion will begin to roll out later in 2006. A more intensive advertising and promotional campaign is expected to be launched in late 2006 or early 2007. Further details were not announced.

"We are very pleased to make this announcement. The agreement with H-E-B will do much to solidify our leading position in the state of Texas, not only as a provider of pet health insurance, but also as a provider of microchip technology for dogs and cats," said Mark Warren, President and Chief Executive Officer of Pethealth. "Our model for the wider distribution of pet health insurance includes leveraging the brands of our retail partners, and H-E-B is without question one of the strongest retail brands in Texas. We have been very pleased with H-E-B's approach, which will see us looking over the course of our partnership to expand our offerings beyond insurance and microchipping."

The partnership includes joint marketing by H-E-B and Pethealth of Pethealth's 24PetWatch microchip program. Pethealth is a leading provider of microchips for companion animal usage in the United States and Canada. H-E-B, as part of its continuing effort to enhance the lives of its pet-owning customers, has agreed to facilitate broader use of the 24PetWatch program working in tandem with animal welfare organisations throughout the state. Microchip awareness in the state of Texas has increased as a result of the hurricanes of 2005 which led to many pets becoming separated from their owners. The greater use of microchip technology and Pethealth's excellent track record in lost pet recovery, combined with H-E-B's reputation as a trusted provider of goods and services to its customers, is expected to lead to more pet owners choosing to microchip their pets in the future.
