Oil and Gas News

Petrohawk Energy (HK) is in play. On Friday, BHP Billiton Ltd. said that it intends on buying the U.S.-based energy for $12.1 billion, giving it greater access to U.S. shale gas reserves.

Melbourne-based BHP said it would pay $38.75 for each Petrohawk share in a cash offer. The value of the deal is $15.1 billion, and it covers Petrohawk Energy's debt.

If the acquisition goes through, it would give BHP over 1 million acres (400,000 hectares) in Louisiana and Texas. The offer is expected to go to tender and begin by July 25.

Banking News

Bank of America (BAC) will announce its quarterly earnings on Tuesday. Investors are not confident that the results will be favourable as Bank of America stock fell 7 percent last week, dipping below $10 on Friday.

Entertainment News

Sirius XM Radio Inc. (SIRI) stock is in high demand due to the fact that the subscription-based entertainment and sports satellite radio provider is on schedule to hit its earnings targets. This year, Sirius expects to generate approximately $3 billion in revenue and $715 million in adjusted EBITDA for fiscal 2011. The company's cash flow is expected to reach $350 million.

Educational News

Braining Babies (TBBC) is poised to do battle with Disney's Baby Einstein for a share of the highly lucrative infant and toddler education category. Brainy Babies has its sights set on the 4.3 million babies born each year. TBBC offers a line-up of more than 200 children's learning products, including educational videos, books, games and toys for newborns to five-year-olds.
