Petrolia Recrutes a Senior Oil & Gas Geologist

RIMOUSKI, QUEBEC--(CCNMatthews - Oct. 24, 2006) - Petrolia (TSX VENTURE:PEA) announces the nomination of Bernard Granger as chief geologist. He holds a master degree in geology from the Universite de Montreal and is a member of l'Ordre des geologues du Quebec and of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists. Mr. Granger has 32 years of experience in the petroleum exploration sector.

During his career, he held various technical and administrative positions. For 20 years he was with SOQUIP (Societe quebecoise d'initiatives petrolieres) where he held the position of chief geologist and afterwards chief geologist for PAREX, a general partnership comprised of Aberford Resources, Denison Mines and Soquip Atlantic. Their mandate was the exploration of oil and gas in the Canadian East Coast. As such, he participated in the discoveries of the Terra-Nova and White Rose large gas fields on the Grand Banks of Newfoundland. He completed his career with SOQUIP holding the position of senior geologist in Morocco within the scope of a consulting contract managed by SOQUIP for the account of Petro-Canada International.

Before joining Petrolia's team, Mr. Granger was chief geologist with Hydro-Quebec Petrole et gaz. Mr. Granger is also president and co-owner of Geosig Inc, a company specialized in geophysics applied to mining and petroleum.

Throughout his career, he has developed a unique expertise within Quebec in various fields touching oil and gas exploration notably in the development of prospects, evaluation of well logs, evaluation of oil and gas reserves, the economic evaluation of reserves as well as the different geophysical methods pertaining to oil and gas exploration.
