PetSmart Appoints Bob Moran President and Chief Executive Officer

Phil Francis to Stay on as Executive Chairman

PHOENIX, AZ--(Marketwire - June 18, 2009) - The Board of Directors of PetSmart, Inc. (NASDAQ: PETM) has appointed Robert F. Moran chief executive officer. Moran has been the company's president and chief operating officer since 2001, and will retain his title as president.

Current Chairman and CEO, Phil Francis, will become executive chairman of the board, and will continue to work closely with Moran and PetSmart's leadership team to pursue the company's successful business and financial strategies.

Moran, 58, joined PetSmart in July 1999 as president of North American Stores. In December of 2001, he was appointed president and chief operating officer. Moran came to PetSmart from Toys R Us, Ltd., Canada, where he was president. Prior to that, he spent 20 years with Sears, Roebuck and Company in a variety of financial and merchandising positions, including president and chief executive officer of Sears de Mexico. He was also chief financial officer and executive vice president of Galerias Preciados of Madrid, Spain.
