Phase2 Technology Releases "Tattler" to the Drupal Community, Available for Public Download

ALEXANDRIA, VA--(Marketwire - October 13, 2009) - Phase2 Technology today contributed the Tattler project code to the Drupal community on Drupal.org as a first step towards developing a useful distribution for monitoring topics online.

Using semantic web technologies, including Open Calais, Tattler mines the Internet and allows a reporter or researcher to dig deeper for information on the issues which they cover. It is ideal for news makers and news creators as it is a powerful tool which can uncover and track information from news publications, blogs, and social media outlets like Twitter.

"As the trend of information transparency continues to grow, tools like Tattler, that allow a deeper dive into information are essential for journalists, researchers and policy advocates," stated Jeff Walpole, CEO of Phase2.

Tattler goes beyond other tools used for managing and collecting news and online buzz; it helps uncover important trends and allows users to deeply investigate a topic of interest. Instead of pulling in keyword based feeds, Tattler integrates contextual information that is relevant to topics of interest.

Launched in Beta in August 2009, Tattler has been tested by a key group of news and social media thought-leaders, and will be offered as a hosted, fully managed product in early 2010. Phase2 will continue to make improvements and add features in coming months.

Tattler will help to further increase Drupal's visibility within important sectors like publishing, journalism, non-profit, and public policy organizations where a wide group of adopters are expected. Tattler is another excellent example of the power and flexibility of the Drupal platform.

"We are confident that the Drupal community will not only give us great feedback on potential Tattler improvements, but also will add to the code," said Irakli Nadareishveli, Director of Product Development at Phase2.
