Phenom People Reveals New Research Into the Talent Experience at 400 Global Companies

Findings Indicate Significant Room for Improvement in How Employers Attract, Engage and Convert Applicants Into New Hires

HORSHAM, PA--(Marketwired - Jun 20, 2016) - Phenom People, the leader in Talent Relationship Marketing, announced today the release of its latest research, "State of the Talent Experience Report," an extensive audit of the talent experience at 400 of the world's largest companies.

"Despite organizations spending billions of dollars every year on their recruiting efforts, companies still struggle to hire the candidates they need. The reasons is often due to outdated recruiting software and technology that fail to meet the needs and expectations of today's candidates," said Mahe Bayireddi, CEO of Phenom People. "In our new report, we explore this challenge in-depth, revealing what companies are doing right and where they can improve to deliver a more engaging talent experience and convert more candidates into hires."

Today's candidates are not just job hunters, but savvy consumers who expect the same level of information, flexibility and self-service they have in other online experiences in their job search as well. This often means that employers must provide more information about the company and its positions, more relevant and personalized content and multiple ways to apply. However, as Phenom People's new report uncovered, most employers are unable to deliver on these expectations, contributing to the difficulty they face in attracting, engaging and converting applicants.

To conduct this research, Phenom People performed a comprehensive audit of the Talent Relationship Marketing (TRM) lifecycle of 400 companies, mimicking the talent journey from first touch on job boards, search engines and social media, to the experiences on the main corporate website and through the full application process. Each company was scored based on the architecture and functionality of their career sites and how effectively souring paths lead candidates there; the content, internal and curated, each company makes available to candidates; and the application process candidates are required to complete.

Based on its findings, Phenom People uncovered areas in which the majority of companies are lacking in delivering a positive TRM experience. These include:

  • Only half (49 percent) of companies surveyed have a talent experience optimized for mobile and desktop browsers.
  • Just 30 percent of career sites employ predictive search methods.
  • Only four in 100 companies recommend jobs to visitors based on their browsing history.
  • 71 percent of companies do not allow returning applicants to resume an incomplete application.
  • 3 out of 4 companies do not provide regular updates of application status.

Phenom People is unveiling the report during a talent experience workshop in Philadelphia on Tuesday, June 21. This half-day workshop and networking event will discuss the findings of the report and give HR and talent acquisition professionals the chance to learn from some of the industry's thought leaders.
