Philadelphia Area Skyline to Glow Pink Again as CBS 3, Susan G. Komen Philadelphia® Launch 12th Annual LIGHTS FOR THE CURE™ Campaign in Honor of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month

PHILADELPHIA, PA--(Marketwired - Sep 30, 2013) - LIGHTS FOR THE CURE, a joint effort by CBS 3 and Susan G. Komen Philadelphia, will turn the area skyline pink for the 12th year in a row during National Breast Cancer Awareness Month as a reminder to stay vigilant in the fight against breast cancer.

From the Battleship New Jersey docked in Camden, to the National Constitution Center on Independence Mall to the Bethlehem Steel Blast Furnaces in the Lehigh Valley, nearly 100 buildings and landmarks will go pink Tuesday evening, October 1st, with most remaining lit throughout the month. Atlantic City will also participate in the campaign with a citywide lighting of landmarks on Friday, October 4th in partnership with Susan G. Komen Central and South Jersey. A complete list of the buildings and landmarks participating in the LIGHTS FOR THE CURE™ campaign is available at

Beyond the message broadcast by the lights, the campaign will also maximize CBS's airwaves to generate awareness of breast health. Throughout October, CBS 3 and its sister station The CW Philly will broadcast reminders to schedule a mammogram hundreds of times in news broadcasts, including every time a building or landmark is showcased in Eyewitness Weather forecasts this month, and in promotion time.

Launched in 2002 by CBS 3 and the Philadelphia Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure®, LIGHTS FOR THE CURE was the area's first public service campaign to use the lighting of buildings and landmarks to promote a cause.

CBS 3, The CW Philly and Komen Philadelphia acknowledge the support of Cancer Treatment Centers of America and Toyota sponsors of this campaign. We also thank our community partners for LIGHTS FOR THE CURE -- the Philadelphia Department of Parks and Recreation and Di Bruno Brothers.

CBS 3 (KYW-TV) and The CW Philly (WPSG-TV) are part of CBS Television Stations, a division of CBS Corporation.
