Philanthropic Woman Wins Mr. Rooter® Plumbing Water-Wise™ Sweepstakes

WACO, TX--(Marketwire - Apr 11, 2011) - There's an old adage, 'what goes around, comes around.' It seems to be true for the Mr. Rooter Plumbing Water-Wise™ Sweepstakes winner, who has helped others for decades.

Pat McKelley's name was drawn from 64,736 entries. She was on the Better Homes and Gardens website when she read about the sweepstakes for a tankless water heater. It was about to end, so she entered.

"It's amazing," said McKelley, who lives in Wooster, Ohio. "I can't believe I won. I just entered once."

But once was all she needed. Some may call it luck; others karma, because McKelley worked at the Christian Children's Home of Ohio for more than 20 years. During that time, she helped hundreds of kids.

She still receives phone calls from now grown-up children she once helped. "They are fantastic adults," said McKelley, whose daughter and granddaughter followed in her footsteps and now work at the home.

Mr. Rooter Plumbing was happy to see the tankless water heater go to someone who has touched so many lives. Matt Polcyn, owner of Mr. Rooter Plumbing of North Central Ohio, and plumber Rico Quinones recently installed the product at no charge.

Donated by Barnett, Noritz's tankless water heater is one of the plumbing industry's greenest products. In addition to conserving water, it offers environmentally-friendly benefits such as lower emissions, reduced electrical consumption and easier recyclability of materials.

By providing endless hot water, this new product will also lower McKelley's utility bills.

"We are thrilled Pat is the recipient of the Mr. RooterPlumbing Water-Wise™ Sweepstakes," Polcyn said. "This gives us the chance to reward her for going green, and help her save money."

And it's a much needed saving, McKelley says. Both she and her husband are on disability. While her husband Tim has survived pancreatic cancer and a liver transplant, she has severe asthma.

"We really appreciate winning this," McKelley said. "When I found out I won I said 'Yea God!' It will save us money on utility bills."

That was one of the goals of Mr. Rooter Plumbing when they started the sweepstakes. Being in the plumbing industry, they know the impact of conserving water.

"The Mr. Rooter Plumbing Water-Wise™ Sweepstakes gave us an opportunity to educate people on the benefits of adding green products to their home," said Mary Kennedy Thompson, president of Mr. Rooter Corporation. "It was also a fun way to encourage and reward people for going green."
