Philly.com Launches Loyalty and Rewards Platform in Partnership With Badgeville

Philly.com Is the First News Source to Offer This Game-Like, Rewards Feature

PHILADELPHIA, PA--(Marketwire - November 11, 2010) - Philly.com, powered by the Philadelphia Inquirer and the Daily News, has partnered with Badgeville to launch a new rewards program for their online visitors that allow them to earn points and virtual rewards based on their activity on www.philly.com. The purpose of the rewards program is to further engage users by rewarding points and badges for activities on the site such as reading and commenting on articles, watching online videos and clicking through photo galleries. The more people participate on philly.com, the more points they earn, with the goal of users developing friendly competition to try and earn the most points and be identified as a philly.com "top fan."

This fun, new feature will be available exclusively to registered users. Throughout the site and on users' profile pages, "top fans" with the highest point scores will be displayed along with their current activity. Users' point totals and trophies will also appear next to their name each time they comment on an article.

"We are always looking for ways to create deeper engagement with our 4.5 million philly.com unique users each month, and we are excited to launch this new platform and enhance the online experience for our readers," said Jeff Berger, vice president and CIO, Philadelphia Media Network Inc. "We are pleased to be one of the first to bring this new innovation to philly.com."

Powered by Badgeville, winner of the 2010 Audience Choice Award at TechCrunch Disrupt, this feature opens a new frontier of combining content with community. Badgeville gives web site owners, media sites, communities, marketers and brands the ability to build loyalty, deepen the sense of community, and increase user engagement through simple-to-implement game mechanics such as points, levels, trophies, and badges. Brands are able to recognize and reward their audience for engaging with content that matters to them.

"We are excited to partner with philly.com to add a new element to the site for users to enjoy," said Kris Duggan, CEO and founder, Badgeville. "Badgeville enables philly.com to embrace and grow their web audience by bringing together content with the social aspects of gaming. The result is a highly engaged, loyal, and socially-active community. Badgeville enables you to recognize and reward key user interactions that in turn extend loyalty, while measuring and reporting the most active behaviors from your audience."
