Phoenix Dentist Offers Free Dental Care to Area Veterans

PHOENIX, AZ--(Marketwired - November 30, 2015) - Dr. Thomas Mattern, a Phoenix dental implant dentist, recognized Veterans Day by offering free dental care to the brave men and women who have served their country.

Dr. Mattern, who operates Desert Dentistry, and his staff assisted veterans for 12 hours during the program and treated patients to Einstein Bros. Bagels and Starbucks. The veterans were also treated to free haircuts from Sports Clips.

"We had a great turnout and we're honored to partner with local companies who have made an effort to help our brave veterans," Dr. Mattern said. "The veterans we treated were extremely grateful for the free dental care and left our office with smiles on their faces." Dr. Mattern's staff treated nearly 60 patients. The free treatments included cleanings, fillings and extractions. The staff of Desert Dentistry also worked with each veteran to set up care treatments. The veterans were invited to have snacks and drinks following their treatment.

While Veterans Affairs does offer dental insurance, not all veterans are eligible for VA-sponsored dental care. By offering a free day of dentistry, Dr. Mattern said veterans can discover a dental office to oversee their future dental care.

"We are excited to provide this special opportunity to our veterans, as this is an easy way to give back and bring the community together for a great cause," Dr. Mattern said.

Desert Dentistry is a multi-office practice that offers general dentistry, cosmetic dentistry, restorative dentistry, dental implants, mini dental implants, short-term orthodontics, sleep apnea treatment, same-day emergency services and TMJ treatment.

Dr. Mattern is a 1988 graduate of Creighton University School of Dentistry and has taken hours of continuing education to provide his patients quality, state-of-the-art care. Dr. Mattern graduated from the Las Vegas Institute of Cosmetology program and holds a Fellowship with the International Congress of Oral Implantologists. Dr. Mattern also has been voted the Best Dentist in East Valley and the Best Dentist in Ahwatukee.

He holds memberships with the Academy of General Dentistry, American Dental Association, International Dental Implant Association and the International Congress of Oral Implantologists. Dr. Mattern takes pride in contributing to his community in many ways by working with St. Vincent de Paul's dental clinic every month, working with Give Kids A Smile and flying to Atoyac, Mexico, to work in the Latin World Ministries dental clinic for the less fortunate.

Desert Dentistry's four convenient locations offer patients free dental exams and X-rays during initial visits and provide affordable care options.
