Pholium App Update Brings Multimedia eBooks to Print

QR Codes in Printed Photo Books Add Multimedia Dimension to Enrich Viewer Experience

DALLAS, TX--(Marketwire - Mar 12, 2013) - For the first time, iPad users can access premium quality, multimedia hardbound and electronic books. 58 North, creators of premium iPad applications, today announced that the leading FREE iPad digital photo book app, Pholium, now offers the highest quality hardbound photo book printing capabilities, giving users the ability to order a physical copy of their digital multimedia book creations that reflect the same superior standards available in Pholium's digital version.

By including QR codes in Pholium photo quality printed books, viewers can experience the same interactive sound and video contained in the eBooks. When a user hovers over a QR code with any smartphone or tablet, they are instantly directed to the multimedia content.

"Printed photo books are great, but they are limited to whatever is on the page," said Robert Sinclair, co-founder of 58 North. "With this update, we're giving life to printed photo books and allowing our users to tell and share a richer story through multimedia assets. The best part: you never have to use a computer."

Users can easily select an eBook in their Pholium Library and choose either the 8-inch or 10-inch spine book to be printed directly from the Pholium app. These lay-flat printable Pholium books are available with glossy or matte finished image wrap covers and can contain up to 158 photos, audio captions and video links. The up to 80-page printed books start at $42 (8-inch) and $47 (10-inch). Shipping is included.

"Imagine sharing photos and videos of baby's first steps with grandma, or sending an interactive wedding album to distant relatives using only your iPad or smartphone," said Sinclair. "We are making that possible with superb printed photo books that won't break the bank."

Launched in April 2012, Pholium elevates the way iPad users interact with images by enabling the creation and consumption of high-quality, customizable digital photo books that can easily be given to others. As an iPad-only photo eBook creation and consumption platform, Pholium is designed to provide a rich and immersive experience that goes beyond today's online photo sharing and point-click-print photo books. Pholium allows users to customize their own digital photo books to tell a complete story through multimedia and print.
