Photo Release: EADS North America Delivers Two UH-72A Lakota Light Utility Helicopters to the U.S. Army National Guard

TUPELO, MS--(Marketwire - June 7, 2008) - The first two UH-72A Lakota Light Utility Helicopters for the U.S. Army National Guard were formally presented today (June 7) to the Mississippi Army National Guard's 1/114th Service Support Battalion, based at Tupelo. These new helicopters are produced by EADS North America, and will replace Vietnam-era aircraft currently in the service's inventory. They are to be used for homeland security, disaster relief, counter-drug, medical evacuation and other missions. Army National Guard units across the United States will ultimately receive 200 of the total 345 UH-72As planned for acquisition by the U.S. Army through 2017. These state-of-the-art rotary-wing aircraft are built at a new helicopter center of excellence in Columbus, Mississippi.
