Phyllis Clark, Tim Fell and Chris LaBossiere Appointed to the TEC Edmonton Board of Directors

EDMONTON, AB--(Marketwired - September 29, 2016) - TEC Edmonton announced today the appointment of three distinguished Albertans to its Board of Directors. Their leadership covers key areas of post-secondary education, finance, information and communications technology, and entrepreneurship.

As Vice-President (Finance and Administration) of the University of Alberta for more than 14 years, Phyllis Clark provides leadership to all matters relating to university finances, human resources, supply management services, internal audit, strategic analysis, risk management services and administrative IT services.

Prior to her role at the University of Alberta, Phyllis served as Assistant Deputy Minister of Ontario's Management Board Secretariat, as the Province of Ontario's Chief Economist and Assistant Deputy Minister of Finance, and as Vice-President (Finance and Administration) at York University. Phyllis holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Economics (University of Toronto) and a Master of Arts in Economics (University of Michigan).

Tim Fell, Vice-President of Video and Broadband Services at TELUS, has occupied senior roles at TELUS for more than 20 years, and will bring valuable insight to TEC from the information and communications technology sector. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (University of Saskatchewan) and an MBA in Finance (University of Alberta).

As the Founder and CEO of Yardstick Testing and Training Experts, Chris LaBossiere is familiar with what it takes to build a successful business. Having started as a hobby with only two employees, Yardstick won the 2006 TEC VenturePrize and has since grown to become a $22 million dollar company with 80 employees.

Chris has previously served on the Board of Directors for the Edmonton Economic Development Corporation and as Board Chair for Startup Edmonton. He holds an Institute of Corporate Directors (ICD.D) designation from the University of Toronto's Rotman School of Management.

"I am pleased to have three exceptional leaders join TEC Edmonton's board this year," says Dr. Lorne Babiuk, University of Alberta Vice-President (Research) and TEC Edmonton Board Chair. "Their combined expertise will be a great asset to TEC Edmonton, and will help strengthen the Edmonton region's position as an innovation, technology and business development leader."
