Physicians Interactive Announces Partnership With docwise to Provide Curated Content Integration With Omnio iPad App for Medical Professionals

Aggregated Reader Platform to Provide Most Relevant Information for Clinicians' Personalized Needs

MARLBOROUGH, MA--(Marketwired - Jun 11, 2013) - Physicians Interactive (PI), the leading provider of online and mobile clinical resources and solutions for healthcare professionals, today announced a partnership with docwise that will unleash the power of the most customized digital content for medical professionals available today through the Omnio iPad app.

Omnio, a versatile, groundbreaking app that optimizes the way medical professionals access information on the iPad, will integrate docwise's aggregated reader platform for serving personalized curated content to clinicians this summer. The free Omnio app is available for download in the App Store: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/omnio/id545775601?mt=8.

With the docwise reader platform, Omnio users will be able to read all their medical journals, news, and topics of interest in one place. They will also receive automatic updates on articles that address topics of importance to them, quickly share those articles with colleagues and save abstracts to read offline. Omnio users can also earn CME 2 credits when using the app.

"Our vision is to provide physicians with the most elegant reading experience and we are thrilled to broaden access to this via Physician Interactive's Omnio app," said Rosina Samadani, Ph.D., the President of docwise. "We look forward to a long and fruitful partnership with Physicians Interactive as we combine the strength of our design-centric medical content platform together with Physicians Interactive's innovative app. This will substantially benefit busy physicians who rely on customized information right at the point of care in a timely manner."

Full-text access will be available on the Omnio app through the docwise platform for those clinicians who already have enterprise access to content from healthcare publishers and medical institutions, with more sources being added every day. Leading industry associations can also incorporate their content into the Omnio app through the customizable reader platform.

Users will be able to create custom topics, such as "sleep apnea" or "ventral hernia," and never miss an article on that topic. The platform also provides search and save capabilities by topic or author which will automatically update the Omnio app every time the topic is accessed.

"With more than 31 million new entrants coming into the American healthcare system under healthcare reform, clinicians are pressed for time now more than ever," said Physician Interactive's CEO and Vice Chairman Donato Tramuto. "Omnio's synergy with the docwise platform simplifies clinicians' workflow even further, enabling them to have one-tap access to the most relevant, aggregated content for their patients' specialized needs, both at the point of care and during their leisure time."

The docwise platform will also integrate Omnio Pages and MedAlert into Omnio's user experience, incorporating news and updates on particular brands right into the reading experience. This model ensures clinicians easy access to the latest information from the journals, professional associations and industry brands that are most important to them.

The docwise reading platform complements Omnio's existing suite of medical tools and references, so medical professionals no longer need to sift through a stack of journals and textbooks, or search online for multiple news sites or email newsletters to find the information they need.

"With the integration of the docwise platform into Omnio, medical professionals will have everything they need to stay up to date in the medical community," said Gautam Gulati, M.D., Chief Medical Officer and Senior Vice President of Product Management at Physicians Interactive. "They will no longer have to go to multiple sources to get the information they need that is specific to their specialty. They can get all the journal information they need with full text access through their organization's enterprise subscriptions, as well as being able to curate and highlight any other news sites or specialty associations that may interest them. And it all comes to them through a single app, Omnio."
