The Piggy Bank Fund: Media Advisory-Toronto Business Community Invited to Support Canada's 2006 Winter Olympic Athletes and Relief Efforts in New Orleans

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - Sept. 21, 2005) - The Piggy Bank Fund, a charitable organization that was established to help support a variety of grassroots fundraising programs, is hosting a charity event on Thursday, September 22, 2005 from 6:00 p.m. to midnight at the Olympic Spirit. The event, which is in support of athletes taking part in the Olympic Winter Games - Torino 2006, promises to be a fun-filled networking event with interactive sports activities, Monte Carlo games and a live band.

In light of the devastation caused by Hurricane Katrina, the event's initial scope has also been expanded to support organizations that are providing grassroots assistance to those affected by Katrina. Proceeds from the silent auction will be directed at those relief efforts.

"As a grassroots charitable organization, the Piggy Bank Fund has already raised more than $33,000 since its inception in January 2004," said Allan Nackan, one of the directors of The Canadian Piggy Bank Charitable Fund, which was founded as a registered charity in May 2004. "Our goal is to once again leverage the giving spirit of Toronto's business community to raise much needed funds to support our Olympic athletes and the rebuilding of New Orleans."

About The Piggy Bank Fund

The Piggy Bank Fund was born in January 2004 out of a wish to help less fortunate people in the GTA, from the homeless on an icy winter night in need of a warm pair of gloves to children who are vulnerable to abuse, neglect or exploitation to women in need of shelter. The fund's goal is to harness the power of the Toronto business community, and have them dig deep into their pockets and turn over loose change to support those in need.
