PIMCO Appoints Joshua Anderson to Lead European Structured Product Group in London; Firm Makes Additional Hires as It Continues Global Expansion of Alternatives Platform

Adam Doran, Shrey Shah, Steffen Kluners, Rudiger Holfeld and Veronique Menard Join Real Estate Team in London


NEWPORT BEACH, CA--(Marketwired - Sep 9, 2014) - PIMCO, a leading global investment management firm, has appointed Joshua Anderson, a Managing Director and Portfolio Manager, to lead the firm's European Structured Product Group in London. As part of this appointment, Mr. Anderson, who has been based in PIMCO's Newport Beach office since joining the firm in 2003, will continue to oversee PIMCO's global structured credit investments but is relocating to London. He began his new role September 8.

In addition, PIMCO has hired Adam Doran, Shrey Shah, Steffen Kluners, Rudiger Holfeld and Véronique Ménard to join its real estate team as part of the continued expansion of the firm's Alternatives investing platform, globally. Mr. Kluners and Mr. Doran, who are portfolio managers, and Mr. Holfeld and Ms. Ménard, who are structuring and finance experts, have all started at PIMCO in their new roles. Mr. Shah, also a portfolio manager, will join later this month.

Globally, PIMCO's alternatives offerings span a range of strategies with more than 100 investment professionals overseeing hedge fund and opportunistic/distressed strategies, including global macro, credit relative value, multi-asset volatility, and distressed mortgage, real estate and corporate credit opportunities. 

As of July 31, 2014, PIMCO managed approximately $25 billion in alternative strategies worldwide.

Biographies:

Joshua Anderson

Mr. Anderson has been a Managing Director and Portfolio Manager in the Newport Beach office, focusing on global structured credit investments. Prior to joining PIMCO in 2003, he was an analyst at Merrill Lynch covering both the residential ABS and collateralized debt obligation sectors and was ranked as one of the top analysts by Institutional Investor magazine. He was previously a portfolio manager at Merrill Lynch Investment Managers. He has 19 years of investment experience and holds an MBA from the State University of New York, Buffalo.

Adam Doran

Mr. Doran is a Vice President in the London office responsible for servicing strategies relating to our residential whole loan investment in Europe. Prior to joining PIMCO, Mr. Doran was responsible for strategic direction and oversight of Deutsche Bank's mortgage platforms. He was also a portfolio manager at Toscafund Asset Management and held roles at Credit Suisse and Lehman Brothers.

Shrey Shah

Mr. Shah will be a Vice President in the London office working within the commercial real estate team. Prior to joining PIMCO, Mr. Shah was at The Royal Bank of Scotland where he was responsible for credit and ABS structuring and financing specializing in commercial real estate. He was also an associate in the structured real estate capital team at ABN Amro Bank. Mr. Shah holds a Bachelor of Science in Economics from the University of Warwick.

Steffen Kluners

Mr. Kluners is a portfolio manager in the London office. Prior to joining PIMCO, Mr. Kluners was at The Blackstone Group where he worked within the real estate private equity team. Mr. Kluners holds a Master of Science in Finance and Private Equity from the London School of Economics.

Véronique Ménard

Ms. Véronique Ménard is a Vice President in the London office focused on financial control and treasury for PIMCO's Alternative Funds. Prior to joining PIMCO, Ms. Ménard was an executive director at Goldman Sachs in London for 10 years where she was responsible for deals execution of European transactions for several funds. Prior to Goldman, she was an associate at Archon Group in France, a Goldman affiliate, focused on investment and fund accounting of Goldman's real estate funds. Ms. Ménard has 13 years of accounting, structuring and execution experience in transactions for private equity funds and holds an undergraduate degree in Accounting and Finance.

Rudiger Holfeld

Mr. Holfeld is a Vice President in the London office and tax counsel focusing on the European tax aspects of the alternative funds. Prior to joining PIMCO in 2014, Mr. Holfeld was an Executive Director at Goldman Sachs in London for eight years, where he was responsible for European tax planning for the Goldman Sachs managed real estate, private equity, senior and mezzanine and infrastructure funds as well as the European Special Situations Group. He was previously an associate at Clifford Chance in London for six years where he focused on English law and tax. He has 14 years relevant experience and is a qualified solicitor in England and Wales.
