PIMCO to Hold 8th Annual "Share the Harvest" Charity Event

Nearly 1,000 Volunteers in Newport Beach and New York Pack Food for 18,500 Needy Families

NEWPORT BEACH, CA--(Marketwired - Dec 11, 2015) -  This Saturday 700 PIMCO employee volunteers, friends and family members will gather at the OC Fair & Event Center in Costa Mesa to pack 16,000 holiday meals in boxes for needy families in Southern California.

The PIMCO Foundation, PIMCO's charitable giving and employee volunteer program, is sponsoring the 8th annual Share the Harvest event in Newport Beach. All 16,000 boxes will be donated to the Orange County Food Bank and its many member agencies.

This event follows a similar one in New York City where 250 PIMCO volunteers packed 2,500 holiday meal boxes for the Food Bank For New York City.

Margarette Purvis, President and CEO of Food Bank For New York City, said: "Food Bank For New York City is grateful for dedicated partners like PIMCO. Their commitment to helping others shined through at their Share the Harvest event and Food Bank was honored to take part. We're equally thankful that PIMCO volunteers embraced our Food Bank 2 Go onsite service program and spent their Saturday packing 2,500 boxes of food. Their gift of service will help to provide 22,500 meals for our struggling neighbors in New York City. PIMCO's support makes a difference in the lives of countless New Yorkers."

Mark Lowry, Director of the OC Food Bank, said: "Among our most cherished memories are holiday meals shared together as a family. Equally impressionable and lasting is the memory of a parent's inability to provide that experience for their children, The PIMCO family is providing 16,000 other families an opportunity to build positive memories this holiday season. That is a great R.O.I.!"

"We are delighted to partner again with the Food Bank For New York City and the OC Food Bank," said Douglas Hodge, Chief Executive Officer of PIMCO and President of the PIMCO Foundation. "These organizations are doing important work in our local communities and Share the Harvest offers our PIMCO volunteers the opportunity to give back and do our part in serving those in need."

Since inception, PIMCO's Share the Harvest event has provided meals for 308,000 individuals in Orange County and New York City.
