"Pink Friday" Is Coming to Illinois' Largest Health System

Advocate Health Care Raising Awareness for Breast Cancer Month

DOWNERS GROVE, IL--(Marketwired - September 24, 2013) - Employees across the Advocate Health Care system are pulling out all the stops to raise awareness during National Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October. Things kick-off with "Pink Friday" on October 4 when all associates are encouraged to wear something pink to mark the day.

Additionally, Advocate will host a special "pink edition" of AdvocateLive featuring breast health experts Gale England, MD and Heidi Memmel, MD, answering questions live about breast cancer at 11:30 a.m. that same day. The interactive web chat will stream on Advocate's Facebook page and website.

On the social media side, Advocate Facebook fans will have 31 chances to learn more about breast health, connect and win. Each day during the month of October, fans will be invited to answer a breast health question and get entered to win a one-of-a-kind inspirational pink crystal bracelet of hope. The more questions they answer, the more entries they will receive toward the grand prizes: three $100 Intimacy Apparel gift cards.

Additionally, women looking to engage in honest conversations about their breasts, make a no referral appointment for their annual mammogram and get expert health tips can check out Stories of the Girls -- Advocate's new website dedicated to breast health.

Also, during October, Advocate will choose a breast cancer survivor to receive a custom-designed dress from famed Chicago fashion designer and survivor herself, Barbara Bates.

Readers can also check out Advocate's health enews website throughout the month to see compelling videos and read stories featuring courageous survivors.
