Pinot Days San Francisco Offers a Week of Pinot Noir Wine Tastings and Events

SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwire - June 17, 2009) - Pinot Days San Francisco engages all the senses with its offering of incredible pinot noir, samplings of Bay Area specialty foods, gifted and interesting winemakers and gatherings of wine and food culture enthusiasts. More than 200 pinot producers will pour their wines at Pinot Days, including the newly-released 2007 vintage, which critics are calling pinot's best vintage in decades, and maybe ever. This five-day San Francisco wine tasting event includes blind and thematic wine tastings, a Winemakers "Table Hop" Dinner at Pres A Vi and, for the first time, a twitter gathering, contest and tasting. These events allow curious, new and seasoned pinot enthusiasts to come closer to the variety than ever before, experiencing firsthand all that it has to offer. The 5th annual Pinot Days San Francisco begins June 24 and culminates on June 28 with the Pinot Days Grand Festival at historical Fort Mason in San Francisco, CA. Event tickets and detailed information about Pinot Days can be purchased at www.pinotdays.com.

Founded by The Bay Area Wine Project with the ultimate goal of advancing the profile of pinot noir, Pinot Days is a four-day celebration of Pinot Noir and its most brilliant winemakers, the vineyards, the grapes, and the often-bewitching process of urging the noble pinot grape into great wine. At Pinot Days, the winemakers and winery owners do the pouring, creating a uniquely engaging San Francisco wine festival experience where wine enthusiasts can interact, ask questions and learn the stories behind what goes into making great pinot noir.

"We say that Pinot Days is 'serious wine, serious fun,' because while the wines are the best on the market and their winemakers among the most gifted, our events are casual, welcoming and accessible to both the seasoned and new wine lover," said Pinot Days producer Steve Rigisich. "With access in mind, we are thrilled to be working with Taste Live to bring the spirit of Pinot Days online via Twitter and open it up to a worldwide audience of wine enthusiasts."

Taste Live, a pioneering online wine tasting community that leverages the power of Twitter to bring together consumers, bloggers and winemakers worldwide for tastings, will produce a week long "Best Pinot Noir Tweet" contest beginning June 18th and a live tasting of four California pinot noirs on June 25. Pinot Days attendees will have the opportunity to tweet from the Grand Festival and have it broadcast online and at the event. Information and participation details can be found at www.tastelive.com.
