Pioneering Technology and Maryland Fire Equipment Announce Agreement to Distribute Safe-T-element™ in Washington DC and the State of Maryland

MISSISSAUGA, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - March 22, 2007) - Pioneering Technology Inc. of Mississauga, Ontario (TSX VENTURE:PIO), ("Pioneering") announces it has finalized an agreement with Maryland Fire Equipment Corporation of Rockville, Maryland ("Maryland Fire") to distribute its Safe-T-element™ to Maryland Fire's customers in Washington DC and the State of Maryland in the United States.

Maryland Fire Equipment Corporation is one of the most respected fire, rescue and safety distributors on the East Coast. Having always been owned and operated by firefighters, Maryland Fire Equipment has forged outstanding relationships with various high ranking fire service professionals in different jurisdictions including the Maryland State Fire Marshal's Office and the Montgomery County Fire & Rescue, Fire Prevention and Fire Code Enforcement Divisions. Located only 16 miles outside Washington DC, Maryland Fire Equipment will introduce Safe-T-element™ to the fire prevention community at large in addition to its customers throughout this high-profile and visible area of the country.

Montgomery County has traditionally been very proactive in its adoption of certain fire safety codes and as such, this county has the autonomy to pass fire safety legislation to enforce fire preventative measures and mandate technologies for particular applications. Maryland Fire Equipment will work with Montgomery County Fire & Rescue to educate the public and introduce Safe-T-element™ to assist many fire departments in reducing the fires that result from unattended stove top cooking.

According to the American Red Cross eighty percent of Americans don't realize that home fires are the single most common disaster across the nation. The American Red Cross responded to more than 73,000 disasters in communities across the United States last year and 92 percent of these were fire related. In the United States, a home fire is reported every 79 seconds and someone dies from a home fire every 135 minutes according to the NFPA, National Fire Protection Association. Cooking fires are the leading cause of home fires and two out of three cooking fires start with the range or stove.

R. Scott Colvin, Maryland Fire Equipment Corporation's Vice President of Sales and Service said "We are very excited about this product. As with many jurisdictions we have concerns with unattended cooking. We know that Safe-T-element will be applicable to the customers that we serve, throughout Maryland and Washington DC. The early and positive response from the fire prevention community has been overwhelming and we know that we will be able to market this product through the various fire departments and our established customer base to reduce the horrific statistics involving cooking fires. "

Pioneering CEO Kevin Callahan said, "we needed a very strong partner to represent this product in Washington DC and its surrounding areas. With 45 employees and a strategic geographic location just outside DC, Maryland Fire Equipment is an ideal partner to generate exposure for a product that will help save lives directly in the nation's capital and throughout the United States of America".

Mr. Colvin continued to point out the fact that, "we will be launching this product at the Middle Atlantic Regional Council of the National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials in May. This Conference will be held in Ocean City, MD and represents many of the high-risk applications for Safe-T-element™ including seniors, low-income housing and many disability housing providers."
