Pitney Bowes Urges SMES to Stamp Out Their Losses

HARLOW, UNITED KINGDOM--(Marketwire - July 19, 2012) - A result of the Royal Mail rate change that came into effect in April has been increasing financial pressures facing Britain's SMEs. With a standard first class stamp now costing 60p, a 30% price jump, Pitney Bowes is reminding businesses of franking alternatives. With franked mail costing 27% less than stamped mail, Phil Hutchison, Marketing Director at Pitney Bowes, is advising businesses to reconsider their communication strategies.

Pitney Bowes offers a number of franking solutions, including their Smart DM50 franking machine which is available on an all-inclusive set-up for just £29.99 per month. This package includes 1 ink cartridge per year, complimentary postal rate updates (generally £60 per update) and purchase power recrediting for the lifetime of the agreement, eliminating the administrative fees incurred when credit is added to the machine. The only additional cost for customers is dependent on the postage they use.

More than a short-term solution, the Smart DM50 franking machine provides long-term benefits. Over the period of one year companies that send 50 standard first class letters per week, will save £416. Pitney Bowes stresses the significance of these savings, reminding SMEs that over a 5 year period they could potentially save over £2,000 - money that could be reinvested in to the business.

Pitney Bowes has published comprehensive advice about the rate change online at www.ratechange.co.uk as well as offering specific product options suitable for small and micro businesses.

*The costs of sending 2600 first class (equivalent to 50 per week), standard sized letters using stamps is £1,560, whereas sending the same volume of mail using franked mail would cost just £1,144.
